South Korea's national football squad will play a friendly match with an African national team in March to prepare for the FIFA World Cup to be held in South Africa in summer, Yonhap News Agency reported.
"As head coach Huh Jung-moo has asked for a game with an African team, we are in consultations with Cote d´Ivoire, Cameroon, and Ghana, all of which have advanced to the World Cup finals," Kim Joo-sung, head of the international affairs department at the Korea Football Association, was quoted as saying.
The date of the envisioned match has been set for March 3 with the team and the venue to be decided soon, he added.
South Korea is trying to hone their skills against Africa's strength, stamina, and ball control as it is in the same group with Nigeria along with Argentina and Greece. South Korea believes the match with Nigeria will be crucial in its first goal to join the second round of 16 teams.
South Korea plans to dispatch Huh and his assistant coaches to the African Cup of Nations to take place in Angola next month to figure out more details of Nigeria.
