National football team forward Ji Dong-won of Sunderland marked his first assist in the English Premier League (EPL), Tuesday.
The Korean forward set up Kieran Richardson’s late consolation goal but it was overshadowed by his club’s 2-1 defeat against Norwich City at Carrow Road.
It is his second offensive point in his debut EPL season.
Ji scored his first goal against Chelsea on Sept. 11. But unfortunately the Korean’s visible efforts have not led to victory for his side so far.
The ball found Ji at the edge of the 18-yard-box and the 20-year-old switched play to the right.
Richardson collected the ball in space and his low shot found the net.
Before Richardson’s strike Leon Barnett scored in the 31st minute and Steve Morison doubled the Canaries’ lead in the 48th.
Newly-promoted Norwich is now ninth with eight points and Sunderland is 14th with five.
Ji came on as a substitute in the 73rd minute.
Instead of going for goal himself, Ji tried to make better chances for his teammates as well as melting into Sunderland’s strategies.
But Sky Sports, an English sports television network, gave him a 6/10 rating, saying he struggled to find the pace of the game when he came on.
Starting forwards Nicklas Bendtner and Connor Wickham failed to generate effective chances. During the first half Bendtner managed just one shot on target.
Among the Sunderland strikers, Ji is the only one to score in the six previous league games.
