Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun ranked 10th out of 114 participants in his first pro-bowler tryout on Saturday, taking a step closer to becoming a professional.
He averaged 221 points with a total of 3,315 over the 15 games on the first day of the 22nd Korean Bowling Tryouts’ first round at Yeongtong-gu district in Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province.
The round consisted of 30 games -- 15 on Saturday and 15 on Sunday.
Kim, 28, averaged more than 190 in the first half of the first round on Saturday. He has to perform the same the next day to qualify for the second round on Oct. 29-30.
“I was deeply impressed by his talent,” said a Korea Professional Bowling Association spokesman.
K-pop rock band F.T. Island’s main vocalist Lee Hong-gi also competed on Saturday.
He finished 27th, with 3,115 points and an average of 207.7.
The final list of professional bowlers will be announced in mid-November.
