Younger Americans’ opinion of pornography has changed from bad to neutral or good, research shows.
Evangelical Christian polling company Barna Group conducted more than 3,000 interviews, including pastors.
Although the detailed report will not be available until April, the company said the younger generation now viewed porn as good for society.
Many respondents believed porn was less risky than actual sex.
A small minority of teenagers and adults said they felt guilty about watching porn, as did 87 pastors.
Respondents said they watched porn for various reasons including arousal, boredom, curiosity and fun.
People aged 25-50 said they watched porn for sex tips or sexual arousal, whereas teens and young adults said they watched porn because it was “less risky than actual sex.”
The number of girls and women who watch porn has increased, contrary to a social perception that porn is a “man’s domain.”
