After a career in the professional ring, he was appointed coach of the South Korean boxing team for the 1972 Munich Olympics, and was the first person to raise the alarm when Palestinian Black September terrorists attacked the Israeli team in the Olympic village.
As far as I can see, his passing has gone completely unreported here, though I heard on the BBC that Korea issued a commemorative stamp in his honor at the time. I haven’t been able to trace this, and I wonder if any other readers know about it.
