Suzy, a member of K-pop girl group Miss A, released her first solo album “Yes? No?” Tuesday, only a week after revealing her single “Pretend” that topped the online charts.

The album’s lead single “Yes No Maybe” instantly ranked No. 2 on four major music charts ― Mnet, Bugs, Olleh Music and Genie. Park Jin-young, founder and main producer of JYP Entertainment, wrote the song with producer KAIROS.

Park got his inspiration for “Yes No Maybe” while spending time with Suzy. The singer said the song is a result of empathy created from their longtime friendship and Park wrote the song reflecting his inspirations and Suzy’s thoughts as a 23-year-old woman.

Suzy shot a music video for the single in Hong Kong last year, paying homage to Chinese post-modernist films of the ‘90s that were popular worldwide.

Many popular singer-songwriters like 1Piece, G. Soul, Jo Hyunah and Epitone Project participated in producing Suzy’s other five tracks on the mini-album.

Producer Yoon Sang of 1Piece wrote the fourth track “Les Preferences,” which is a medium-tempo electronic urban R&B song. Suzy wrote the lyrics based on a demo version of the song.

Cho Hyunah of Urban Zakapa is the co-writer of the fifth track “Heater Forever,” but she emphasized it was mostly Suzy who came up with the ideas. The bossa nova music tells of a person treating her lover in comparison to a heater, which she does not want to stay too close to or too far away from.

Prior to releasing her new album, Suzy starred in online reality TV show “Off the REC. SUZY” on Jan. 15, revealing many sides of her personal life from her daily routine to romance.

The show grabbed much attention from her fans as she had not appeared on TV much before.

On the show, Suzy showed how she spend her day at home posting pictures and stories on Facebook as well as meeting Jo Hyunah to consult her on relationship advice.

A previous series of “Off the REC.” followed K-pop diva Lee Hyo-ri’s life in 2008. The episodes, then, unveiled Lee’s personal life in celebration of her 10th anniversary debut. The camera went into the top star’s home, studio and closet for a glance into her private life.

The latest TV series follows Suzy to reveal everything from her hobbies to her agonies as a young actress. Suzy unveiled her solo album on the TV series as well.
