Police have received intelligence claiming that a group related to the Islamic State (ISIS) has threatened to bomb a store in an upmarket Seoul district.

Police said on Sunday that in a posting on social media, the unidentified group said it would detonate explosives close to COEX, a large shopping mall in Gangnam.

The intelligence was received through the National Intelligence Service, which cited information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The attack is said to have been planned for Sunday, although no specific time was mentioned.

Police said they had increased security in the area.
