New Avante returns as 'my first car'

For many Koreans, Hyundai Motor's Avante compact sedan was the first car they owned because of the car's efficient size, fuel economy, price and better-than-expected driving performance.
현대자동차의 준중형 세단 아반떼는 효율적인 크기, 연비, 가격, 괜찮은 성능으로 많은 한국인의 생애 첫차였다.
And the latest version of the Avante, which began domestic sales on Thursday, is providing another fine option for those looking for their first car.
새롭게 변신한 아반떼가 목요일 국내 판매를 시작하며, 첫차 구매를 고민하는 사람들에게 괜찮은 선택지를 추가시켰다.
“The compact sedan segment has been the choice of many who buy their first car,” Hyundai Motor domestic sales vice president Lee Kwang-guk said. “The new Avante is the result of Hyundai's efforts to develop an affordable and attractive daily car for those who are having their first Hyundai experience.”
“준중형 세단은 첫 차 구매자들 대부분의 선택을 받아온 세그먼트”라며 “더 뉴 아반떼는 현대차를 처음 경험하는 고객을 위해, 합리적이고 매력적인 데일리카를 개발하기 위한 노력의 결과물”이라고 이광국 현대차 국내영업본부장(부사장)이 말했다.
The new Avante is a face-lifted version of the sixth-generation Avante AD released in September 2015. However, the look of the new car is more like a fully changed version, featuring more contours, curves and pointy headlamps and grills. This has resulted in a sporting face and tail, which were not available on previous Avante models.
더 뉴 아반떼는 2015년 9월 출시된 6세대 아반떼AD의 페이스리프트 모델이지만 더 유선형의 곡선, 직선적이고 날카로운 헤드램프와 그릴이 더해진 외형은 풀체인지 모델처럼 느껴진다. 더 날렵해진 전면과 후면은 직전 아반떼에서는 볼 수 없던 모습이다.
“Hyundai Motor's designing mission is focused on representing the more active lifestyle of its customers,” said Koo Min-chul, executive director for design at Hyundai Motor. “We made efforts to get away from the conventional stable and gentle image of the Avante.”
구민철 현대차 외장디자인실장은 “현대차의 디자인 철학은 고객들의 활동적인 라이프스타일을 최대한 담는 것에 주력했다”고 말하며 “우리는 기존 아반떼의 평범, 차분, 점잖은 이미지에서 벗어나고자 노력했다”고 덧붙였다.
The new Avante comes in three powertrains, gasoline, diesel and liquid propane injection, all of which are 1.6 liter displacement.
더 뉴 아반떼는 1.6ℓ가솔린, 1.6ℓ디젤, 1.6ℓLPG 총 세 가지 파워트레인으로 출시된다.
The gasoline model is powered by a 1.6-liter Smart Stream engine coupled with an Infinitely Variable Transmission, which eliminates shifting shock. Yielding 123 horsepower and 15.7 kilogram force-meter torque, the car produces a fuel economy of 15.2 kilometers per liter, which Hyundai described as one of the most efficient in the category.
가솔린 모델은 1.6ℓ 스마트스트림엔진에 무단변속기(IVT)가 적용되어 변속충격을 없애준다. 최고출력 123마력, 최대토크는 15.7㎏·m, 연비는 ℓ당 15.2㎞(15인치 타이어 기준)로 높아지며 가장 효율적인 준중형차라고 현대차는 설명한다.
The diesel model is coupled with a seven-speed DCT transmission, producing 136 horsepower and 30.6 kilogram-force meter torque. It has fuel economy of 17.8 kilometers per liter, which is also one of the best in its category.
디젤 모델은 7단 듀얼클러치 변속기(DCT)를 장착하여 최고출력 136마력, 최대토크는 30.6㎏·m이다. 연비는 17.8㎞에 이르며 준중형 카테고리 내 최고치를 자랑한다.
