Shirley Yu-Tsui |
The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) has named IBM General Manager Shirley Yu-Tsui as new chairman of the AMCHAM Council on Innovation for the Future (ACIF), the U.S. business lobby said Thursday.
"I am honored to take on this position and look forward to working with fellow leaders of the U.S. and Korean business communities in helping Korea develop its innovative capacity," Yu-Tsui said in a statement released by AMCHAM.
She said that the AMCHAM Council will continue the "Innovation Camp" program this year to help local university students find a job at multinational companies operating in Korea.
Last year, the council held three Innovation Camps for university students in North Chungcheong Province, Busan and Daegu, the statement said.
The Innovation Council was launched by AMCHAM leaders and some executives from U.S. companies in Korea in October 2012 with an aim to promote new business opportunities in Asia's fourth-biggest economy, it said.
Yu-Tsui, a 30-year veteran in the information-technology industry, was named General Manager of IBM Korea in January 2013. Previously, she was responsible for leading IBM's consulting and systems integration business across the Asia-Pacific region.
