I just got off a really annoying phone call with the secretary at my elderly mother's doctor's office, who said she was "sending a link" for a video conference on her phone.
연로하신 어머니의 병원 진료실 비서와 신경질 나는 전화를 방금 끊었는데, 비서는 휴대폰으로 영상 컨퍼런스를 위한 "링크를 보내겠다"고 했습니다.
I nearly choked.

I said, "Stop, OK? Look, not everyone has an expensive phone!"

So then she chirps, "OK, I'll send the link to your phone, and she can use yours!"
그러자 그 여비서는 "좋아요, 링크를 당신 폰으로 보내드릴게요, 그럼 어머니께서 보실 수 있겠죠!"라고 짹짹거렸습니다.
I then had to explain that I don't have an expensive phone either.
그래서 저 역시 비싼 폰을 사용하지 않는다고 설명해야 했습니다.
Our society forces people to spend big bucks on these toys.
우리 사회는 사람들이 이 장난감에 큰 돈을 쓰도록 강요합니다.
You go to a bank and ask a customer service representative for assistance, "Oh, it's easy. You can set it up yourself with your phone!"
은행에 가서 고객 서비스 담당자에게 도움을 청하면 "아, 쉬운 일인데요. 폰으로 직접 설치하시면 됩니다!"라고 합니다.
You call a business for an update on an order and, three hours later, when a live person FINALLY picks up, you are told, "You can just track your order with your phone!"
주문 건과 관련한 업데이트를 받기 위해 사업체에 전화를 걸면, 세 시간 후쯤 살아있는 사람이 마침내 전화를 받아서 "폰으로 주문을 추적할 수 있는 걸요!"라고 말하는 걸 들어야 합니다.
It makes me want to scream into my $30 flip phone.
이 모든 일 때문에 제 4만원짜리 플립폰에 소리치고 싶어집니다.
