Seoul's sky turned white-gray on Tuesday afternoon and began showering down fluffy snowflakes like white confetti.
The snowfall began around 1 p.m. and continued for several hours, washing down choking fine dust in the atmosphere.
The weather agency cautiously predicts it could be the last snowfall of the season as the cold snap that has ravaged the country for days is expected to recede. A mass of warm air is flowing in from the south to return Seoul temperatures to the normal level of minus 3-6 degrees Celsius from Wednesday, the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said.
The KMA lifted its cold snap advisory that had been in place for days on Tuesday afternoon. But there is bad news: yet another fine dust invasion is on the way. The agency plans to issue a fine dust warning for Seoul Wednesday morning, caused largely by toxic particles blown from China.
