Model Huh Jae-hyuk posted on Instagram a photo of himself under water, which provoked viewers to recall drowned victims of the sunken ferry "Sewol" off the southwestern coast.

While the "Sewol" ferry tragedy at the nation's southwestern coast is still making headlines, a male fashion model stoked anger among netizens with an inadvertent SNS photo, MyDaily said Thursday.

On Thursday morning, Huh Jae-hyuk posted on Instagram a photo of himself lying in a water-filled bathtub facing upward. Wearing black clothes, the eerie image reminded viewers of a drowned man.

But the photo couldn't have been released to the public at a worse time. Netizens criticized Huh for shamelessly mimicking drowned passengers in the Sewol ferry.

An apologetic Huh responded online, saying because he doesn't own a television or a computer he didn't know about the tragic news earlier. He said he only found out about the news recently and was sorry about his photo.

But netizens discovered that Huh had posted photos of himself using his laptop on his SNS, and are questioning the truthfulness in his statement.

Huh terminated his account from virtually all SNS channels.

전남 진도 세월호 참사로 전 국민이 슬픔에 빠져있는 가운데, 모델 허재혁이 부적절한 사진으로 논란에 빠졌다.

허재혁은 17일 오전 자신의 인스타그램에 '재밌는 놀이'라는 짧은 글과 함께 물이 채워진 욕조에 잠수를 하고 있는 남성의 모습을 담은 사진을 게재했다.

하지만 네티즌들은 해당 사진을 여객선 침몰과 연관 지어 해석하며, 부적절한 시점에 사진을 게재한 허재혁을 비난했다.

허재혁은 '서울에 올라온 지 3달이 채 안됐는데 현재 상수에서 살고 있지만 컴퓨터와 TV가 없다. 그래서 뉴스나 매스컴을 접할 기회가 거의 없다. 내가 인스타그램에 사진을 한 장 올렸다. 목욕탕 물 안에 있는 사람 사진이었고 '재밌는 놀이'라고 글을 적고 올렸는데 내가 여객선 침몰 사건이 있었다는 걸 현재 지금에서야 알게됐다. 너무 소름끼치고 정말 죄송하다'며 해명이 글을 남겼다.

그러나 이런 허재혁의 글에도 네티즌들은 그가 과거 SNS에 노트북을 이용하는 모습을 게재한 사실을 지적하며 거짓 해명 의혹을 제기하고 있다.
