Sejong University ranked 88th out of 11,900 universities in Asia in the 2017 evaluation by global higher education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
This puts the university in the top 1 percent of universities evaluated this year, the university announced in a press statement, Wednesday.
Among Korean universities, it came in 14th, after Pusan National University and Dongguk University which ranked 78th and 82nd place in the QS Asian ranking respectively.

It achieved its rapid progress through recruitment of excellent faculty and providing them with full support to publish their research in top international journals, according to the university.
Specifically, its performance in indicators on citations and international outlook were the major contributing factors, measuring the number of citations and the school's proportion of international students.
Its citation ranking came in 51st this year, up from 58th. Its standing in proportion of both foreign students and outbound exchange students rose, from 93rd to 79th and from 63rd to 59th respectively.
