Seoul International Women’s Association (SIWA) will host a June Coffee Morning featuring celebrity Dr. Sang Lee at the Grand Ambassador Hotel near Dongguk University, Seoul, on June 8.
Lee, popularly known as the “Endorphin Doctor,” will give a lecture on “Your Genes and Health” starting at 9: 30 a.m. A frequent speaker on major networks, Lee is a prolific writer. He virtually introduced the word hormone endorphin (or the happy hormone) to the Korean TV viewers through his lectures.
The “Endorphin Doctor” is associated with NEWSTART Center, a non-profit and faith-based organization that seeks to promote a healthy lifestyle based on the NEWSTART principle.
The name NEWSTART is the initials for Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunlight, Temperance, Air, Rest and Trust in God.
The basic theory for healthful diet is not what to eat but how to eat. People should not eat everything they like and should take essential and healthful nutrients over time.
These include eating sufficient antioxidants, fiber-abundant vegetables and ensuring a proper protein intake and reduce the intake of fat.
Lee's NEWSTART Center traces its roots to Weimar Institute in California where he was once a faculty member, teaching nutrition. The Weimar Institute has been a strong proponent of the NEWSTART Lifestyle since 1978. People have been flocking to the institute to discover healthful living through proper nutrition, exercise, and trust in divine power and primarily to control diabetes and hypertension.
The NEWSTART Program gained much popularity and a large number of Koreans have become interested in this unique approach in treating disease. They greatly desired to have the program conducted in Korea to serve the needs of the Korean people who do not have the resources to travel to the US.
Lee established the Korean New Life Institute on Jan. 4, 1998 in Seoul.
The costs of the event are 14,000 won for members and 19,000 won for non-members.
