A unique collaboration between Sweden and Korea is about to surprise the design world next week.
Sweden Korea Young Design Week at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul from Dec. 8-17 will feature new ideas, concepts and materials from young designers of Ung Svensk Form and the design departments of Seoul National University, Hongik University and Kookmin University under the theme "Innovation," "Sustainability" and "Future."
The exhibition will also introduce a selection of upcoming and classic IKEA products developed using the "democratic design" concept.
Design organization Svensk Form, the Swedish Embassy and global home furnishing company IKEA organized the event.
Svensk Form, also known as the Swedish Society of Crafts and Design, is a not-for-profit organization established to promote Swedish design worldwide.
According to the embassy, there will also be a series of design talks at which Swedish and Korean designers will share their thoughts and ideas.
Head of Design at IKEA Marcus Engman will speak on "Democratic Design and the Future," Dec. 7.
Sweden Korea Young Design Week will be open to the public and free.
