Renowned comic book artist, writer and editor Bob Layton is coming to Korea for a month-long visit to meet fans all across the country.
Layton is widely recognized for his contributions to the comic book industry and Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He may be best known for his work on Iron Man, but his ink has also appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk and X-Men, to name a few. He has also worked with DC Comics and was one of the chief architects of Valiant Comics' Valiant Universe.
Layton will be at Dice & Comics Cafe (DCC) in eastern Seoul on July 29 and 30 to meet fans and sign copies of his work. He'll be back to teach a comic book storytelling masterclass on Aug. 4 and a comic art masterclass on Aug. 11.
In the meantime, Layton will also be doing a bit of a USO tour, paying a visit on Aug. 2 to the military personnel at U.S. Army Garrison (USAG) Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, and then on Aug. 31 at Osan Air Base in the same city.
He'll also be at Seoul Comics Week at MetaGround Seoul in eastern Seoul running from Aug. 19 to 25, and on Aug. 26, he will appear at the award show for an Iron Man drawing contest.
This is all part of a world trip Layton embarked on to celebrate his 70th birthday this year.
“He has a great appreciation for Korean food, entertainment and culture, so he planned for Korea to be the final stop on his trip,” said Joey Croner at DCC. “We're more than thrilled to have Mr. Layton as our guest in Korea. Iron Man has become one of Korea's most prominent pop culture icons and just about everything that Korean fans love about Iron Man can be traced directly back to his work on the character. We hope a lot of fans take advantage of the opportunity to come and see him.”
