Ryu Seung-min, a South Korean member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Saturday.
한국 출신 유승민 국제올림픽위원회(IOC) 선수위원이 지난 토요일 코로나19 확진 판정을 받았다.
Ryu, also the president of the Korea Table Tennis Association (KTTA), announced on social media that he had been diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier in the day after landing at Narita International Airport, just outside Tokyo, for the Olympics.
대한탁구협회장이기도 한 유 위원은 이날 오전 도쿄 외곽에 위치한 나리타 국제공항에 입국 후 코로나19 확진 판정을 받았다고 SNS를 통해 밝혔다.
Ryu said he moved to a hotel to isolate. He had tested negative twice before departing for Japan and had been fully vaccinated.
유 위원은 격리하기 위해 호텔로 이동했다고 말했다. 한편 그는 일본으로 출국 전 두 차례 음성 판정을 받았으며 백신 접종도 완료한 상태였다.
Ryu, the 2004 Olympic table tennis champion in the men's singles, said he was asymptomatic but apologized to anyone he may have affected with his positive test.
2004년 올림픽 탁구 남자 단식 챔피언이었던 유 위원은 증상은 나타나지 않았으나 코로나19 확진 판정으로 피해를 받았을 수 있는 이들에게 사과했다고 말했다.
He said he would wait for his clearance to take part in the Olympics. (Yonhap)
그는 도쿄올림픽 참석을 위해 허가를 기다리겠다고 말했다.
