A driver was fined 100,000 won ($88) for terrifying following drivers with a "high-beam revenge ghost decal."
The Busan Western District Court handed down the ruling on Friday, finding the man, surnamed Kim, 32, guilty of violating the Road Traffic Act. The law punishes drivers who take any action that distracts other drivers.
Kim was indicted last month for fixing a high-beam reflective sticker featuring eerie shapes of ghosts to his car's rear window to surprise drivers of following cars who flashed their lights at him. The "ghosts" appear when exposed to high-beam lights.
"Given the shape of the decal and its attached location, the accused violated the law," Judge Kim Kyung-soo said in the ruling.
The judge denied Kim's claims that the decal was a "decoration" with no intention to affect other drivers.
Kim bought the "revenge sticker" in October at an online shopping mall and used it for 10 months, during which many drivers were "terrified" by the sudden appearance of "ghosts," police said.
