The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Tuesday that it will dim the lights on half of all bridges across the Han River to save energy and cut costs.
The lighting on 12 of 24 Han River bridges will be turned off to save 120,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month and 200 million won (about $177,700) in energy costs annually, city officials said.
They are Gwangjin-daegyo, Jamsil-daegyo, Dongjak-daegyo, Mapo-daegyo, Haengju-daegyo, Achasan-daegyo, Seoho-gyo, Dumo-gye, Noryang-daegyo, Cheonho-daegyo and Yanghwa-daegyo.
The remaining 12 bridges, which are more frequented by tourists, will remain lit until 11 p.m.
They are the Olympic-daegyo, Cheongdam-daegyo, Yeongdong-daegyo, Seongsu-daegyo, Dongho-daegyo, Hannam-daegyo, Wonhyo-daegyo, Dangsan-cheolgyo, Seongsan-daegyo and Gayang-daegyo.
