New Zealand Ambassador to Korea Clare Fearnley celebrated "women in leadership" with eight other women ambassadors at her residence in Seoul on Oct. 20.
Women who are leaders or future leaders from government, business and academia ― including the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Chung Hyun-back ― joined the reception to celebrate the achievements and aspirations of women.
The eight other women ambassadors resident in Seoul are Grecia Pichardo (Dominican Republic), Difie Agyarko Kusi (Ghana), Rohana Ramli (Malaysia), Emma Isumbingabo (Rwanda), Nozuko Bam (South Africa), Anne Hoeglund (Sweden), Manisha Gunasekera (Sri Lanka) and Adalgisa Ximenes (Timor-Leste).
This first women in leadership event was held last year.
"The reception served as an opportunity for participants to connect with others doing innovative and constructive things through sharing experiences and encouraging the development of the future generation of women leaders," Sophie Kang, a policy adviser at the embassy, said.
