K-pop boy band Seventeen has landed on Billboard's main albums chart this week with its new EP, making its first appearance on the prominent U.S. music chart in its seven-year career.
올해로 데뷔 7년 차인 케이팝 보이그룹 세븐틴은 미니 8집 "Your Choice"(유어 초이스)로 데뷔 이래 미국 빌보드 메인 앨범 차트인 ‘빌보드 200'에 처음 진입하는 모습을 보여주었다.
"Your Choice" came in at No. 15 on this week's Billboard 200, the U.S. music publisher said Monday (U.S. time) on its Twitter account, one day ahead of the chart's official update.
빌보드는 28일(현지시간) 공식 채널 트위터를 통해 "Your Choice"가 최신 ‘빌보드 200'에서 15위를 기록했다고 차트 공식 순위 업데이트 하루 전 밝혔다.
This marks the first time the 13-piece act has made it on Billboard's main singles or album chart since the group debuted in 2015.
세븐틴이 2015년 데뷔한 이래로 미국 빌보드 메인 싱글 차트나 앨범 차트에 든 것은 처음이다.
The achievement came soon after the group shared its goal of earning a spot on Billboard's major charts during a news conference marking the release of its eighth EP on June 18.
이는 6월 18일 미니 8집 앨범 발매를 기념하는 기자회견에서 빌보드 메인 차트 1위를 차지하겠다는 바람을 밝힌 직후 이루어졌다.
"Just making it onto the charts will provide a big boost for us," group leader S.Coups said.
"차트에 오르는 것만으로도 큰 힘이 될 것"이라고 그룹 리더 에스쿱스가 전했다.
Seventeen, one of the most popular groups in South Korea, has recently been moving to boost its global presence by performing on multiple American TV shows.
한국에서 가장 인기 있는 그룹 중 하나인 세븐틴은 최근 여러 미국 TV 쇼에서 출연하면서 국제적으로 그룹을 알리기 위해 노력하고 있다.
Last week, the group performed "Ready to Love," the main track of its latest album, on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" a popular late-night show on ABC, and music channel "MTV Fresh Out Live."
지난 주, 세븐틴은 미국 ABC의 유명 토크쇼인 "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"(지미 키멜 라이브)와 음악 채널 "MTV Fresh Out Live"(MTV 프레시 아웃 라이브)에서 그들의 최신 앨범 타이틀곡인 "Ready to Love"(레디 투 러브)를 선보였다.
In the Billboard Music Awards held in May, the group was named a candidate for the fan-voted Top Social Artist category, along with K-pop superstars BTS and BLACKPINK. BTS won the trophy.
