Seoul 365 Fashion Show is back. Launched in 2016, the city-run street fashion show aims to unearth promising new designers and provide them a platform to break into new market channels.

'서울 365 패션쇼'가 돌아온다. 서울 시내를 런웨이로 하는 이 '서울 365 패션쇼'는 유망한 신인 디자이너를 발굴하고 그들을 위한 새로운 마케팅 창구를 개척할 수 있는 발판을 마련하기 위해 2016년 시작됐다.


This year, the city plans to expand the project's scale and run 500 different fashion shows around the city.

올해 서울시는 이 프로젝트의 규모를 확대하고 500개의 다른 패션쇼를 서울 시내에서 개최할 계획이다.


Last year, a total of 99 fashion shows were held at Seoullo 7017, Gwanghwamun Square and Seoul Museum of Art, attracting about 11,700 spectators.

지난해 서울로 7017, 광화문광장, 서울미술관에서 총 99개의 패션쇼가 열렸고 약 11,700명의 관중이 몰렸다.


This year's first show took place at Seoul Plaza, downtown Seoul, Monday.

올해의 첫 패션쇼는 월요일 서울 도심에 위치한 서울 광장에서 열렸다.


"It was better than I expected, lots of people stopped to watch," Bowlloon's designer Kim Ha-neul told The Korea Times after the show. "I can't wait for the next show in Sinchon on Thursday, where there will be more young people."

보울룬의 디자이너 김하늘 씨는 패션쇼 가 끝난 후 코리아타임스와의 인터뷰에서 "예상했던 것보다 훨씬 좋았다. 많은 사람들 이 쇼를 보기 위해 가던 길을 멈춰 섰다."라며 "오는 목요일 신촌에서 열릴 패션쇼는 젊은 사람들이 더 많이 몰릴 것으로 기대돼 설렌다"고 전했다.


"The Seoul 365 Fashion Show is a big help in terms of advertising for my brand. It doesn't carry the big cost burdens associated with renting out a showroom either," Kim said.

"서울 365 패션쇼는 저희 브랜드 홍보 측면에서 큰 도움이 된다. 쇼룸을 빌리는 데 드는 큰 비용에 대한 부담도 들지 않는다"라고 그는 덧붙였다.


PR and marketing is the weakest point for new one-person brands, Kim says. Based at a workshop in Seongsu-dong, eastern Seoul, Kim has so far relied on her Instagram account to market her brand to the public.

김 씨는 홍보 마케팅이 신진 디자이너 브랜드의 최대 약점이라고 말한다. 서울 성수동에 사무실 겸 작업실을 둔 그는 지금까지 인스타그램 개인 계정을 통해 자신의 브랜드를 대중에게 홍보해왔다.
