Lee Ki-su, president of Korea University, has received the Medal of Pushkin from the Russian government for his contribution to tightening Korea-Russian ties, Monday.
Russian Ambassador Konstantin V. Vnukov awarded the medal to Lee on behalf of the Russian president Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev at the ambassador’s residence.
The Medal of Pushkin is awarded to those who have shown achievements in the fields of culture, education, literature and mutual enrichment of cultures between nations.
Lee has shown interest in boosting the relationship between the two countries for a long time. The president was in charge of launching the Korea Russia Dialogue in 2009, which has been enhancing both countries relationship in terms of culture, education, economy and international relations through forums and cultural events.
He also received an honorary doctorate from the Moscow State University in January.
