KBS World Radio launched an all-English radio channel, with its first program "KBS World Radio News." It began broadcasting at 5 p.m., Monday.
The new KBS 24-hour channel is expanding the English language network and increasing its accessibility by offering it through its mobile applications "Kong," "KBS World Radio" and "KBS On-Air."
Listeners can keep up-to-date with music scene news with R&B singer Park Jung-hyun also known as Lena Park. Her program, "One Fine Day" will air every weekday from 5:10 to 7:10 p.m.
Following this will be "Korea 24," a one-hour news program with Henry Shinn, an award-winning journalist who has been at the forefront of the Korean news scene through both print and broadcast. Listeners may expect deeper insights into various domestic affairs and international news. It will also cover feature stories from The Korea Times and The Korea Herald.
Singer and producer Oneway Peter will join Angela Park on "K-Pop Connection," which Park has hosted for the last seven years on a different KBS channel. The two will present trending K-pop music and celebrity news every weekday from 8:00p.m. to 10:00p.m.
Each program will be aired multiple times throughout the day in order to allow access for listeners living abroad in different time zones.
KBS World Radio dates back to 1953 when it began as "Voice of Free Korea." In addition to English, it offers programs in 10 other languages including Korean, Japanese, French, Chinese, Indonesian, Russian and Vietnamese on "KBS World Radio" and "KBS On-Air".
