A 20-year-old has been under investigation for hacking into more than 60 websites including the Chinese government and local media, China Business News reported on Friday.

During the past two months, the man was finally caught hacking by the monitoring agency in a trace of two months.

He was bold enough to leave messages such as, “this society cannot even catch a small thief” and “don’t talk about me carelessly” on the hacked sites.

Earlier this month, he disguised himself as a resident of Xi’an, capital of Shaanzi Province, by writing, “make sure to apply the laws fairly. I feel ashamed as a Xi’an citizen,” after attacking the main website of the city.

Eight major IT experts and victims of these hackings found a common user id and were able to use it to track down the IP address.

The hacker was soon identified as a second year student at an unnamed university, living in the southwestern province of Sichuan.

“Since I enjoyed playing computer games, I thought it would be also fun to hack into websites,” the student said. “Normally, I would stop hacking into a website that was impossible to do so but I didn’t know it was this easy to attack all these government websites.”

“If a 20-year-old amateur can hack into government websites, they are in need of improvement,” said the local media.
