Was this merely a coincidence, or was a mysterious power involved?
With the impeachment motion passing the National Assembly with one abstention, 234 endorsements, 56 against and seven invalid votes spelling out 1234567 on Friday, the uncanny result has raised online conjecture that a higher power might be involved.
The plot thickened when the percentage of those who endorsed the impeachment motion equaled that of a public opinion poll held a day before the motion.
In the Realmeter poll on Thursday, 78 percent of respondents were in favor of impeaching President Park Geun-hye.
Things turned spooky when 234 lawmakers out of 300 endorsed the impeachment motion equaling the percentage of the opinion poll.
"One mysterious number might be a coincidence, but two? It may be a sign from the universe telling Park to step down," said a netizen.
