Nighttime drinking in parks along the Han River has been allowed again after four months of being restricted as part of the measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
코로나19 확산 방지 조치의 일환으로 금지됐던 한강공원 야간 음주가 4개월 만에 다시 허용됐다.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said that it lifted the ban on outdoor drinking after 10 p.m. on Monday, following the central government's "Living with COVID-19" strategy. The venues with the lifted ban include all Han River parks, Cheonggye Stream area, Seoul Forest, Gyeongui Line Forest Park and Seonyudo Park.
서울시는 중앙 정부의 ‘위드 코로나' 방침에 따라 밤 10시 이후 야외 음주 금지를 해제했다고 월요일 밝혔다. 금지가 해제된 장소에는 한강 공원 전체와 청계천 일대, 서울숲, 경의선 숲길, 선유도 공원이 포함된다.
The city government imposed the ban on July 6 in response to the fourth wave of infections amid the spread of the Delta variant. The ban was intended to prevent people from continuing to drink outdoors in parks after the curfew shut down restaurants and bars. Those violating the regulation were subject to fines of up to 100,000 won ($83), and convenience stores on Han River parks were also banned from selling alcoholic beverages after 10 p.m.
시 당국은 델타 변종 확산에 따른 4차 감염을 막기 위해 지난 7월 6일 금지령을 내렸다. 이 금지령은 시간 제한으로 식당과 술집이 문을 닫자 사람들이 야외 공원에서 계속 술을 마시는 것을 막으려는 의도였다. 이 규제를 어긴 사람들은 최대 10만원의 과태료를 내야 했고, 한강공원 편의점에서도 밤 10시 이후 주류 판매가 금지됐다.
"We decided to ease the restrictions on outdoor drinking at nighttime, considering the fact that fewer people are looking to gather in riverside parks due to lower temperatures, and stores in these areas have been experiencing a continuous decline in sales," a city official said.
시 관계자는 "떨어진 기온 때문에 강변 공원에 모이는 사람들이 줄고 이 지역 매장의 매출이 지속적으로 감소하고 있는 사실을 감안해 야간 야외 음주 제한을 완화하기로 했다"고 말했다.
Gyeonggi Province and Incheon have lifted similar bans on outdoor drinking in parks and along rivers as well.
경기도와 인천 역시 공원과 강변에서의 야외 음주 금지를 해제했다.
The official said that the Seoul Metropolitan Government will continue crack downing on people not wearing masks as well as on gatherings of over 10 people in these areas, according to the current social distancing measures in Seoul.
시 관계자는 "현재 서울시의 사회적 거리두기 방침에 따라 이 지역에서 마스크 미착용자 및 10명 이상 모임에 대한 단속은 계속할 것"이라고 밝혔다.
