While loving couples await special anniversary days such as Valentine’s Day and White Day with much anticipation, most single men and women dread them while feeling blue, a survey showed.
Research by matchmaking company Duo on 349 single men and women showed Tuesday that 82 percent of them feel depressed on such days that are only for couples to celebrate.
Overall some 48 percent answered that they only felt depressed sometimes, while 33 percent said they felt it rather frequently, indicating that such days are pretty tough for singles.
As for the men, more than half, or 52 percent, sometimes felt depressed while those who answered that they did not feel depressed at all stood at 25 percent.
The results for women, on the other hand, were different. Some 46 percent answered that they felt depressed sometimes, and 37 percent said that they felt it quite often, evincing that females were more prone to feeling gloomy than males.
When asked which day was the most depressing, 44 percent picked Valentine’s Day, followed by Kiss Day (June 14) at 21 percent, and White Day (March 14) at 11 percent. Regarding the special days for couples on the 14th of every month here, 59 percent said that they thought of them as small events enjoyed by couples, while 31 percent said they believed such days were commercially-oriented.
