J-Hope becomes first BTS member to release solo album
제이홉, BTS 멤버 중 첫 솔로 출격

When J-Hope of K-pop sensation BTS revealed the title of his debut solo album, "Jack In The Box," many people guessed it would give off a fun and playful vibe that suits his bright and positive image.
K팝 돌풍을 일으킨 방탄소년단의 제이홉이 첫 솔로 앨범명 ‘잭 인 더 박스'를 공개했을 때 많은 이들은 그의 밝고 긍정적인 이미지에 어울리는 즐겁고 장난스러운 분위기를 보여줄 것으로 예측했다.
However, the 28-year-old singer defied all expectations. "Jack In The Box," which came out at 1 p.m., Friday (KST), turned out to be a dark and weighty album with profound resonance, which highlights his anguish and struggles.
그러나 이28세 아티스트는 모든 예상을 뒤엎었다. 금요일 오후 1시(한국시간)에 발매한 솔로 앨범 ‘잭 인 더 박스'는 어둡고 무거운 한편 그의 괴로움과 분투를 조명하며 심오한 울림을 준다.
"'Jack In The Box' zooms in on my authentic thoughts, ambitions and passion," J-Hope said in a video released by his record label Big Hit Music a few hours ahead of the album's release. The singer did not hold a press event to promote the album.
제이홉은 앨범 발매 전 소속사 빅히트 뮤직이 공개한 영상에서 "‘잭 인더 박스'에는 제 솔직한 생각과 열정, 포부가 가득 담겼다"고 전했다. 제이홉은 앨범 발매 기자 회견을 열지는 않았다.
"It carries two lead singles, 'MORE' and 'Arson.' The former is a song about my ambitions and greed hidden inside a box, while the latter is a tune about myself agonizing at a crossroads after getting out of that box. I tackled a lot of new challenges to make this album, trying to showcase my unexplored side," he explained.
제이홉은 "이번 앨범에는 더블 타이틀곡 ‘모어(MORE)'와 ‘방화(Arson)'가 담겨있다. ‘모어'가 상자 안에 숨겨진 나의 야망과 욕심에 대한 곡이라면, ‘방화'는 내가 상자를 벗어난 후 어떤 선택을 할지에 관한 고민을 담은 곡이다. 이번 앨범을 만들기 위해 보여준 적 없는 모습을 드러내면서 여러 새로운 도전을 했다"고 덧붙였다.
J-Hope asked people to listen to the tracks in the order listed, as they are organically connected.
제이홉은 전곡이 유기적으로 연결된 만큼 순서대로 수록곡을 들어달라고 부탁했다.
Big Hit Music elaborated that "Jack In The Box" is a testament to J-Hope's musical maturity.
빅히트뮤직은 제이홉의 음악적 성장을 입증하는 앨범이 ‘잭 인 더 박스'라고 설명했다.
The singer actively took part in the album's creative process as well, collaborating with American artist and designer KAWS to make its cover.
제이홉은 미국 아티스트 겸 디자이너 카우스(KAWS)와 협업해 앨범 커버를 완성하며 음악 외에 앨범 제작 과정에도 적극적으로 참여했다.
