Lotte Hotels and Resorts, Korea's largest hotel chain, has expanded its presence in the U.S. market with its Lotte New York Palace which become one of the top 20 properties for the holiday season.
한국 최대의 호텔 체인인 롯데호텔앤드리조트는 연말을 위한 장소 탑20에 선정된 롯데 뉴욕 팰리스를 통해 미국 시장에서 입지를 넓혔다.
According to the Forbes Travel Guide, released last week, the Lotte New York Palace made it onto its list of the 20 Places to Celebrate the Holidays.
지난 주 발표된 포브스 여행 가이드에 따르면, 롯데 뉴욕 팰리스는 연말을 보내야 할 20개의 장소 목록에 올랐다.
In 2015, Lotte took over the historic hotel that was built in 1882.
2015년, 롯데는 1882년에 지어진 역사적인 이 호텔을 인수했다.
"There's nowhere quite like The Big Apple during the holidays, and this elegant Four-Star tower wants to help you experience the magic in style," Forbes said.
포브스는 "연말에 뉴욕과 견줄 만한 곳은 그 어디에도 없다. 그리고 이 우아한 4성급 호텔은 여러분이 아주 멋진 경험을 할 수 있도록 도와준다"고 전했다.
It also suggested that visitors snap a selfie or two in front of the property's spectacularly decorated tree.
포브스는 또한 방문객들이 호텔의 화려하게 장식된 나무 앞에서 한 두 개의 셀카를 찍을 것을 제안했다.
Along with the New York Palace, the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney, the Mandarin Oriental, Munich and the Park Hyatt Chicago were among others in the list.
뉴욕 팰리스와 함께 포시즌스 호텔 시드니, 만다린 오리엔탈, 뮌헨, 파크 하야트 시카고가 리스트에 포함되었다.
Since Lotte acquired it three years ago, the New York Palace has steadily gained recognition in one of the most competitive hospitality markets in the world.
롯데가 3년 전 이 호텔을 인수한 이후, 뉴욕 팰리스는 세계에서 가장 경쟁이 심한 호텔 시장중 한곳(=뉴욕)에서 꾸준히 인정을 받았다.
Former U.S. President Barack Obama chose the Lotte Hotel over the Waldorf Astoria that used to house his predecessors during his visit to Manhattan for the U.N. General Assembly in 2015.
버락 오바마 전 미국 대통령은 2015년 유엔 총회 참석차 맨해튼을 방문해, 전임자들(=전 대통령들)을 맞이한 발도프 아스토리아 호텔 대신 롯데호텔을 선택했다.
In addition, it hosted a summit between President Moon Jae-in and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump and a meeting between Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Trump last September.
또한 이 호텔은 지난해 9월 문재인 대통령과 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령의 정상회담, 아베 신조 일본 총리와 트럼프의 정상회담을 개최했다.
In April last year, Forbes also selected the hotel as one of the 21 hot hotels around the globe and U.S. News and World Report ranked it as the thirdbest hotel in New York City in February.
포브스지는 지난해 4월 이 호텔을 전 세계 21개 호텔 중 하나로 선정했으며, 2월엔 뉴욕시에서 3번째로 좋은 호텔로 선정했다.
"It is a huge honor that Lotte Hotel is gaining recognition in New York City, where global hotel chains flock," said its CEO Kim Jung-hwan.
김정환 대표는 "롯데호텔이 글로벌 호텔 체인점들이 몰려드는 뉴욕시티에서 인정을 받는 것은 큰 영광"이라고 말했다.
"We are set to concentrate more efforts on leaping ahead as a global hotel brand."
그는 "우리는 글로벌 호텔 브랜드로 도약하기 위해 더 많은 노력을 기울일 예정"이라고 덧붙였다.
