Daesang has opened a key research center called DAESANG Inno Park in Magok, western Seoul, so as to help it in becoming a global food firm, the company said, Thursday.
Daesang plans to study the trends of local food and raw material markets whilst actively conducting joint research through exchange programs between other food firms at the center.
The food company invested 120 billion won ($88.65 million) to erect DAESANG InnoPark. The construction took two years to complete ― in June of this year. The 8 story building also has two basement levels. The research center consists of a food research institute, kimchi technology research institute, global research institute, food safety center, BIO research institutes and much more.
There are also various welfare facilities for food firm employees such as an in-house coffee shop, a fitness center and a nurture room to help parents take care of their children.
DAESANG Inno Park is also expected to function as a major base for training top-level human resources employees and securing advanced sources of technologies for the company to become a global R&D leader in the food sector.
"The company will secure professional research personnel at DAESANG Inno Park and continue to expand investment into research and development of local food and raw material sectors. It plans to operate a global research center aligned to the company's overseas affiliates and became a global company that will lead the globalization of Korean food by 2030," Daesang CEO Lim Jung-bae said.
DAESANG Inno Park is a technology research institute that was established in Dobong District, Seoul, in 1980. Since then, the institute changed its official name to Daesang Central Research Institute in 1989 and moved its building to Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, in March 1996. It took 26 years for Daesang to move back its research center to Seoul after enhancing the venue to what is now, DAESANG Inno Park.
