One man died and another sustained serious injuries after they repeatedly stabbed each other during a fight in a schoolyard of an elementary school in Gangnam, southern Seoul, Saturday.
Police said Sunday that a 27-year-old man, surnamed Cho, died on the spot after he was stabbed in the neck and chest, while the other man, surnamed Park, 27, sustained wounds to his thigh. Park lost consciousness but later recovered after treatment at a nearby hospital.
Police said the two were fighting over a woman they had a relationship with. Park, the woman's ex-boyfriend, called Cho, the current boyfriend, to the school.
Police said they found four knives with blood stains on two of them. They are investigating who brought the knives.
The two climbed over the school fence as the gates were locked, school officials said.
"It happened in a split second, so a school official on nightshift couldn't intervene when he found them fighting," one official said.
