Hwang, 20, will use the stage name Yi Gyer, which is pronounced like the Korean word for "go win."
At least Ye.A is not a team of 11, but an eight-member group ambitiously launched by composer and talent manager Yang Jeung-seung, who heads Kiroycompany.
"While Yi Gyer became famous because of her father, she has both the looks and talent to be a star,'' Kiroycompany said in a statement.
"Her talent in singing and dancing and her ability to speak different languages including English and Japanese are an asset.''
During his prolific career with the Pohang Steelers, the elder Hwang was widely considered one of Asia's best strikers, and was a key part of the Korean team that made the World Cup semifinals in 2002. He is now considered one of the K League's top coaches, having led the Steelers to back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013.
