An annual coffee festival held every fall in the coastal city of Gangneung has been pushed back to November.

The 13th Gangneung Coffee Festival, which was originally scheduled for Oct. 6 to 9, will now take place from Nov. 25 to 28 both online and in person, its organizers said Saturday.

The Gangneung Culture and Arts Foundation said it decided to delay the festival as the country has been hard hit by the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic for weeks, posting around 2,000 new coronavirus cases daily.

Some "face-to-face" events will be replaced with activities for small-sized families, but online programs, such as seminars with coffee masters, coffee markets and concerts, will be expanded, the foundation said.

The festival has attracted a number of coffee lovers to the coastal city, known as the leading coffee hub in Korea, for more than a decade. (Yonhap)
