Before, 270 students there had to share 12 laptops available at the school. Now, there is a variety of smart devices such as tablet PCs, Galaxy Chromebook laptops and Samsung Flip mobile devices that allow interactive learning in the classroom. This changed the whole learning process at Yonmu Elementary School.
In early July, when Samsung Newsroom visited the elementary school, students presented their ideas to promote Suwon Hwaseong Fortress to their parents using digital devices.
They learned how to use electronic equipment in the classroom, and also gave a presentation on the UNESCO World Heritage Site, coming up with creative results.
Students have been shooting photos and videos of the fortress and producing promotional materials on tablet PCs. They were deeply involved in this self-directed research project, in which they had to search online about cultural heritage and make presentations. The students also shared their thoughts on their classmates' final projects on the day.
"I can start class right away here by uploading documents on the cloud, while I previously had to hand out papers. In addition, Samsung's smart classroom allows me to work with my students efficiently by providing individual learning programs according to their educational level and motivating them to get involved independently," teacher Park Chang-woo said.
Teachers there can also check the students' learning progress on the smart devices. The students can also turn in their assignments online and teachers can give feedback in real time.
"After watching students use digital devices to express their thoughts and ideas, we learned how digital education programs can be utilized in the future. We hope the students can reach out to the world through the smart classroom," one of the teachers at Yonmu Elementary School said.
