GM Korea shared its vision for the era of electric vehicles (EVs) and GMC, its premium truck and SUV brand will roll out the Sierra Denali full-size pickup within this year, according to the chief of its Korean unit, Wednesday.

"Today is the day that GM provides options for new lifestyles to domestic consumers," Roberto Rempel, president and CEO of GM Korea, said during a brand launching event held at the Paradise City Hotel & Resort in Incheon, west of Seoul.

At the event, 15 vehicles of GM including Chevrolet's Tahoe, Cadillac's Escalade and GMC's Sierra Denali were displayed as part of the carmaker's efforts to meet the demands of Korean consumers.

The CEO also revealed the company's vision for the era of EVs, saying that it will play a leading role with its Ultium EV hardware platform and the Ultifi software platform.

"GM is an iconic global company, inspiring dreams, building on innovation for more than 100 years, and is now leading the transformation of the industry as a platform innovator with the Ultium and Ultifi platforms," the CEO said.

Introducing GMC's Sierra Denali, GM Korea said it will sell the full-size pickup truck via online sales channel here.

"Over the last 20 years, GM has responded to the continuously changing needs of domestic consumers with Chevrolet and Cadillac," said Carlos Meinert, GM Korea's vice president of sales, service and marketing, adding that the Korea launch of the GMC brand will further expand the product portfolio of GM Korea while meeting the needs of customers who pursue various lifestyles.

The Sierra Denali, which will hit the Korean market later this year, is a fifth-generation model, according to GM Korea. The pickup shares the same platform as the Cadillac's Escalade and Chevrolet's Tahoe. The model is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 gasoline engine that generates as much as 420 horsepower and a 10-speed transmission.

Customers will be able to receive service conveniently at more than 400 service networks of GM Korea across the nation. GM Korea's Premium Care Service, which has been offered for owners of the imported Chevrolet Equinox, the Colorado, the Traverse and the Tahoe, will also be provided to GMC customers.
