Singer Rain receives Catholic baptism

비, 김태희 따라 천주교 세례받아…"결혼 임박 아냐"

Actor-singer Rain was recently baptized as a Catholic to share the religion of his high-profile girlfriend, actress Kim Tae-hee, his management agency said Monday.

"Rain was recently received baptism as a Catholic. It was something that was planned a long time ago," said Cube DC, while denying rumors about an imminent marriage between the stars.

The baptism took place at a small church in Gwangju, on the outskirts of Seoul, with only family and close friends attending. Cube DC did not reveal when the ceremony took place.

Rain, 32, and Kim, 34, admitted they were in a romantic relationship in January.

배우 겸 가수 비(본명 정지훈·32)가 천주교 신자인 연인 김태희(34)를 따라 최근 천주교 세례를 받은 것으로 알려졌다.

21일 가요계에 따르면 종교가 없던 비는 이달 경기도 남한산성순교성지 성당에서 김태희와 가족, 지인들만 참석한 가운데 세례를 받았다. 김태희는 독실한 가톨릭 신자로 알려져 있다.

소속사 큐브DC는 이날 연합뉴스와 통화에서 '비가 최근 천주교 세례를 받았다'며 '오래전부터 계획한 일'이라고 말했다.

비가 연인의 종교를 따라 세례를 받으면서 연예계에선 김태희와의 결혼설도 조심스럽게 제기되고 있다.

두 사람은 지난해 1월 열애설이 터져 나오자 연인 사이라고 인정했으며, 최근까지 고깃집 데이트를 하는 모습이 포착되는 등 교제를 이어가고 있다.

그러나 소속사는 '구체적인 결혼 계획은 아직 없다'며 '세례를 받았다고 결혼 임박으로 확대 해석하지는 말아달라'고 당부했다. (연합뉴스)
