Seoul’s districts to feature Chuseok events

District offices of Seoul will provide a variety of events marking Chuseok, the harvest holiday, falling on Sept. 21-23, Seoul City said Wednesday.

Dongdaemun district office will hold a grand Chuseok festival Thursday (Sept. 16), where representatives of each dong or smaller administrative unit will compete in shuttlecock tossing, arrow-throwing and rice cake making.

Jungnang district office will host an autumn concert Friday(Sept. 17) at Yongma Fall Park and Chuseok concert at its hall, Sept. 24.

Gangdong district office will hold a traditional game festival for Chuseok at the square in front of the pre-historic residential site in Amsa-dong, Sept. 23-24. Yeongdeungpo district office will stage a culture-sharing performing festival, including four percussion performance, and Namdo folk song singing, Sept. 20.

Seongdong district office will provide an event Friday (Sept. 17), where ailing elderly will make songpyeong or rice cake in cooperation of volunteers.

Districts, such as Gangbuk, Dobong, Seodaemun, Gwanak, Dongjak, Gangnam and Dongdaemun will open a farm and marine product market each from Sept. 17 for Chuseok.
