The advanced information technology of Seoul is expected to be combined with the culture and arts of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, as the two capitals have agreed to cooperate in the sectors.
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and his Prague counterpart Pavel Bem signed the pact in the Czech capital Tuesday in local time or early Wednesday in Korean Standard Time.
Under the agreement, the Day of Prague will be held in Seoul in 2010, the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Prague will also send its delegation to the World Cities CIO (Chief Information Officer) Forum to be held in October in Seoul, in an attempt to strengthen cooperation in information technology, a spokesman said.
"A huge win-win effect is expected when Prague's culture and arts are combined with Seoul's IT know-how and potential power," said Mayor Oh.
The city spokesman said that a Seoul Day event was held at Citizens Hall in Prague Tuesday afternoon with locals and Korean residents in the city attending. The event included Kim Hee-jo's Ensemble No. 3 and haegeum concerto by Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra, a taekwondo performance of Y-KICK, a performance of B-boying and a Czech traditional folk performance.
