Lebanese Ambassador to Korea Jad El-Hassan was killed in a car crash in central Seoul, Thursday.
According to Yongsan Police, the ambassador's car rear-ended another vehicle inside the entrance to Namsan No. 3 Tunnel at about 12:08 p.m.
The ambassador was driving the car on his way to Seoul City Hall, officials said.
He died while being taken to a nearby hospital, while two people in the other vehicle were injured.
Police and fire officials said they are investigating the exact cause of the accident, including whether the ambassador was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Lebanese diplomat was previously questioned by police in September 2013 after allegedly speeding away from the scene after hitting a car in Itaewon.
