Employees at a state agency in St. Paul Minnesota say they have the world record for the largest ball of paper, Associated Press reports.

The ball, made by employees at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), measures 2.95 meters tall and 9.8 meters in circumference. It weighs 193 kilograms.

The agency made the ball to show home how much recyclable paper is thrown away every 30 seconds in Minnesota. It was displayed at the state fair.

The ball consisted of paper held together by a net.

An MPCA spokeswoman said the agency received confirmation from Guinness World Records that the ball did represent the world's biggest known paper wad.

Keeping with the recycling spirit, the agency turned the paper into cardboard for cereal boxes.
