A protest song released a year ago is resonating more strongly than ever with the public following an investigative documentary on Saturday that looked into President Park Geun-hye's unexplained seven-hour "disappearance" on April 16, 2014, when the ferry Sewol sank with more than 300 people on board, mostly high school students.

The SBS TV's program, "I want to know it," featured the song, titled "Truth does not sink," toward the end, calling on the President to offer a direct explanation about what she did during the crucial rescue operation.

Her whereabouts remains unexplained and the presidential office has refused to disclose Park's schedules during the time.

Such a dubious response has stirred speculation and rumors, including reports that Park was undergoing beauty surgery or attending a closed-door religious ritual.

Cheong Wa Dae insists that Park was in the right place at the time, keeping updated with the disaster and directing the rescue operation.

The song's heart-breaking lyrics resonated strongly with the public after the ferry disaster.

The 2 minute 41 seconds clip has drawn more than 172,000 hits on YouTube as of Monday 3 p.m., up from roughly 40,000 when the program was aired. The program also contributed to the clip going viral on social media.

Yoon Min-suk, who composed the song, did not register it on any website or with the Korean Music Copyright Association, so it is available free.

#Here are the lyrics:

Darkness cannot overshadow light.

Lies cannot hide truth.

Truth does not sink.

We will never give up.
