President Moon Jae-in's dog gifted from Kim Jong-un delivers 7 puppies

President Moon Jae-in has unveiled seven puppies sired by his own dog named Maru, and born to one of two dogs gifted to him by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
문재인 대통령이 김정은 북한 국무위원장에게 선물 받은 두 마리의 반려견 중 한 마리인 마루가 새끼 7마리의 ‘아버지’격이 되었다고 밝혔다.
The North Korean leader gave President Moon a pair of Pungsan-breed dogs, one named Songkang and one named Gomi, as a gift after the two held summit talks in Pyongyang in September 2018.
김 위원장은 지난 2018년 9월 남북정상회담 당시 문 대통령에게 풍산개 ‘송강’과 ‘곰이’를 선물했다.
President Moon wrote on his Facebook account that Gomi had given birth to seven white puppies sired by his dog Maru, also a Pungsan, Saturday.
문 대통령은 토요일 자신의 페이스북을 통해 북한에서 온 ‘곰이’와 원래 데리고 있었던 풍산개 ‘마루’ 사이에서 새끼 7마리를 낳았다고 밝혔다.
The president noted it has been four weeks since the puppies were born and they have been developing well. But one puppy, following a difficult birth, has experienced problems and has required special care with respect to feeding.
문 대통령은 강아지들이 태어난 지 4주가 되었고 건강하게 자라고 있다고 말했다. 하지만 난산으로 태어난 강아지 한 마리는 아직 이유식을 잘 먹지 않아 우유를 먹이는 데에 특별히 신경을 쓰고 있다고 말했다.
Moon added he has yet to name all the puppies and said it will be a difficult task since there are seven of them.
문 대통령은 7마리 강아지들의 이름을 짓는 것은 쉽지 않다고 덧붙였다.
In November 2018, Gomi also gave birth to six puppies that were distributed to four local governments ― Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon and Gwangju.
지난 2018년 11월에도 ‘곰이’는 새끼 6마리를 낳았으며 이 6마리는 서울, 인천, 대전, 광주 등 지방자치단체로 분양됐다.
The Pungsan breed originates from a mountainous region of North Korea.
한편 풍산개는 북한의 산간 지역에서 나는 종이다.
The dogs, bred to hunt tigers and other wild animals, are known to be agile, smart and ferocious toward their prey, but friendly and loyal to their human masters.
호랑이와 야생 동물을 잡을 정도로 용맹한 풍산개는 먹이를 향해 민첩하고 영리하며 맹렬하지만 주인에게는 다정하고 충성스러운 것으로 알려져 있다.
Songkang and Gomi were born in 2017, according to Cheong Wa Dae.
한편 ‘송강’과 ‘곰이’는 2017년생이라고 청와대는 밝혔다.
