Accor Ambassador Hotel Management Korea announced Friday that its ibis Ambassador Seoul and ibis Ambassador Myeongdong properties have become the first economy hotels in Korea to receive the ISO 9001 certification for Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001 for Environmental Management Systems issued by global certifier Bureau Veritas.
Ibis, Accor Hotel Group’s leading economy brand, was the first economy hotel chain to obtain the ISO 9001 quality certification in 1997. In 2004, ibis also became the world’s first hotel chain to secure the ISO 14001 environmental certification.
Since 2011, ibis has built an integrated management system to manage the quality and environmental procedures of the ibis network, and provide quality services across more than 950 ibis hotels worldwide.
“We are very proud that the quality and environmental operational efforts at ibis Ambassador Seoul and ibis Ambassador Myeongdong have been recognized internationally as Korea’s first hotels to secure ISO certifications in the economy hotel category,” said an official from Accor Ambassador Hotel Management Korea.
“We are fully committed to fulfilling our corporate responsibilities of protecting the environment and contributing to the local community, as well as improving service quality for customer satisfaction,” he said.
According to Accor Ambassador Hotel, the country’s head office in charge of the ibis network in Korea was also certified with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Additionally, ibis Ambassador Suwon is currently under an auditing process for the two certifications.
The ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are international standards that specify a set of requirements for quality and environmental management systems developed and published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
The ISO certification is granted to companies which implement a management system to meet the international standards and continuously improve overall performance for better consumer satisfaction.
