A decomposed body has been found in the concrete floor of a factory being renovated in Bupyeong, west of Seoul.

Police failed to confirm the identity of the body because its decomposition had advanced too much.

“The body seems to have been buried for nearly a year,” an investigator said. “There were nothing but white bones, with which it’s very difficult to figure out the body’s identity.”

The cause of the death remains unknown due to a lack of evidence. A toxic test applied to the discovered bones also failed to explain the case.

Investigators said the body was presumed to be of a woman in her late 20s after analyzing the shape and lengths of discovered skeleton and other bones.

Meanwhile, police believe this to be a homicide case, in which the victim was killed and buried in concrete.

“This is a rare case that a dead body was found buried in a concrete floor,” an investigator said Sunday. “This makes police hard to presume when the case occurred.”

Police are investigating current and former owners of the facilities while waiting for the result of the DNA test.
