North Korea's Samjiyon Orchestra performs in Seoul

Listen

North Korea's star singer and head of its Samjiyon Orchestra, Hyon Song Wol, performed at a concert in Seoul on Sunday (February 11), which was attended by North Korean leader's sister Kim Yo Jong and South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

At the end of concert, Hyon sang a North Korean song and received an ovation from South Korean audience. The concert ended with a grand finale of joint performances with a member of South Korea's Kpop band Girls' Generation Seohyun.

The 137-strong North Korean orchestra arrived in South Korea on February 6 with the 9,700-tonne ferry Mangyongbong 92, which showed a fresh sign of a thaw in inter-Korean relations after months of tensions over North Korea's nuclear and missile programmes.

The Samjiyon Orchestra returned to North Korea on early Monday (February 12) by buses after their two concerts during the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.
