The Corea Image Communication Institute (CICI) held its 19th Culture Quotient (CQ) event Tuesday at the French Ambassador's residence to promote aspects of Korean culture.
The CQ forum is designed to share cultural experiences and promote Korea's image abroad. The "C" refers to culture, concentration, communication, creativity and cooperation
Some 60 leaders from various sectors including five ambassadors in Korea attended the event: Kuwait Ambassador Jasem Albudaiwi, Austria Ambassador to Korea Elisabeth Bertagnoli, Jordan Ambassador to Korea Omar Al-Nahar, Irish Ambassador to Korea Aingeal Oand the host, France Ambassador to Korea Jerome Pasquier.
"It's always nice to meet people from different regions and foreigners living in Korea," said Pasquier. "The job of an ambassador is to learn about his appointed country. You cannot understand the country only by reading the reports, so it's good to meet as many people as possible through events like this.
"Korean culture is very interesting, but they are not well-known abroad, so it is always a discovery. I want to suggest French to learn about Korean traditional real landscape paintings such as masterpieces by Jeong Seon and Kim Hong-do that are now exhibited at DDP, Seoul," Pasquier said.
The ambassador hoped to promote French contemporary arts in Korea.
During the night event, participants had a chance to play Jegichagi, a traditional ball-kicking game.
"I feel great that all the members of Korea CQ have gathered to experience Korean culture," said CICI President Choi Jung-wha. "Ambassadors in Korea are happy to make friends with business men, professors and artists as well.
"We will visit museums and concerts together in the near future. I hope the members say it was a good choice to become the part of Korea CQ when they return to homeland."
