The banks of Seoul's landmark river will transform into a beach in the final weeks of summer.
Citizens will be able to play and sunbathe on sandy banks by the Han River close to Jamsil Hangang Park's pool in southern Seoul.
The idea comes from a similar feature at Paris' Seine River.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government brought in over 1,000 tons of sand to create the beach spanning 5,000 square meters.
It also planted parasols, sunbeds and plants and equipped the area with shower booths and changing rooms.
Citizens can enjoy the sand through Aug. 23.
The beach area will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. free of charge.
