KB Kookmin Bank announced that it is opening new branches in Chennai and Pune, two of India's major economic hubs, on Monday.
The expansion is expected to strengthen KB's network in the high-potential Indian market, the bank said, following the launch of its Gurugram branch in 2019.
The addition of the two branches comes four months after receiving final approval from the Reserve Bank of India in June to open more locations.
Chennai and Pune are regions where major Korean conglomerates and global companies are actively operating. Chennai serves as a commercial and manufacturing hub in southern India, while Pune is emerging as a center for advanced industries, including IT and biotechnology.
The two branches will offer a wide range of services, including deposits, loans, trade finance, personal banking and digital financial solutions. Working in synergy with the Gurugram branch, they aim to provide solutions that cater to the unique characteristics of the Indian market.
Looking ahead, the bank said it plans to expand its portfolio in India by introducing various products and services, such as investment banking and supply chain finance, to meet the evolving needs of local customers.
"The Indian market holds immense potential, and the opening of our Chennai and Pune branches will enable us to meet the diverse financial needs of local customers," a KB spokesperson said.
