Lee Mi-seon, head of research at Hashed Open Research |
She will lead research projects on the latest issues facing the global cryptocurrency and blockchain industry. Lee is most famous for her role as a former fixed-income analyst at Hana Securities.
Last year, the former bond market analyst made headlines after ending her career there and assuming a fresh position as a research chief at Bithumb's Research Center. Bithumb is the nation's second-largest crypto exchange.
What brought Lee to the crypto industry was her strong faith in the faster-than-expected institutionalization of cryptocurrencies.
Hashed Open Research plans to issue regular reports on the overall analysis and trends of the crypto industry and its regulatory environment here and abroad. The blockchain research subsidiary of Hashed was established in 2022 and scouted former First Vice Finance Minister Kim Yong-beom as the firm's leader.
She received a finance MBA at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Her previous career also included a stint as a former credit analyst at ING Asset Management Korea. Lee also worked as a market insight team leader at game publisher, Wemade.
Utilizing her expertise in finance, Lee is also widely expected to engage in much broader research activities encompassing not just blockchain, but other themes ― such as global financial risk factors and their impacts on the digital economy.
Hashed Open Research plans to hold open seminars and serve as a connecting dot between blockchain industry officials and financial authorities here. The think tank will also seek fresh business models in digital finance. The research organization plans to hold a policy seminar under the theme of the co-evolution of technology and policy in mid-October.
